What it reads, and what it rejects

MedUni Exam is a file to quiz generator for students of medicine and the health sciences: medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, physiotherapy and biomedical science. Textbooks, lecture slides, scanned notes, up to 3,000 pages a document with optical character recognition for up to 600 scanned pages. PDF, Word, PowerPoint and plain text files all work, as does text you paste in and a public web page you give the address of. It writes single best answer multiple choice questions, clinical vignettes, multi-select, true/false and short answer, then rejects any question whose quotes are not on the cited page or whose answer a second model will not confirm. The free plan is 300 verified questions a month with an account, 60 a month as a guest without signing up, and there is no card to enter.

Every question must cite verbatim quotes from your document, with page numbers. The server checks each quote against the stored text of that page and rejects the question if it is not there. A second, independent AI model then answers each question seeing only the quotes; disagreement with the answer key rejects the question. What survives shows its sources under every answer.

Works in any language, and quality varies by language: the questions come out in the language of your document, or in the one you pick. What works in your language, and what does not.

What no quiz generator does

Verbatim quote. Every question carries the sentence it was written from, copied out of your file, with its page number.
Quote check. Before you see a question, the quoted sentence is matched against the stored text of the page it cites. If it is not there, the question is dropped.
Blind second answer. A second model from a different family answers the question from the quote alone, without the key. Disagreement drops the item.
Item writing filter. Options like all of the above, vague which of the following is true stems, and questions about "the text" instead of the subject are rejected by pattern before they reach you.
Near duplicate index. Each new item is compared against everything already generated from the document, so a long run gives you different questions instead of twelve facts restated.

Common questions

How does MedUni Exam avoid hallucinated questions?

Every generated question must include one or two verbatim quotes from the uploaded document, with page numbers. The server verifies each quote actually appears on the cited page and rejects the question if it does not. A second, different AI model then answers the question seeing only those quotes; if it disagrees with the answer key, the question is rejected. Accepted questions display their source quotes and page numbers.

Does it work with scanned PDFs?

Yes. Pages without a text layer are read with optical character recognition automatically, so photographed or scanned lecture notes and old textbooks work the same as digital PDFs.

What can I upload besides a PDF?

Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and plain text (.txt and .md) files, text you paste into the box, and a public web page by its address. A PowerPoint file is read one slide per slide, so its questions cite slide numbers. Word files, text files, pasted text and web pages have no pages of their own, so they are cut into numbered sections of about 2,500 characters and questions cite those. See lecture slides.

Is there a file size limit?

A file can be up to 400 MB and 3,000 pages, of which up to 600 may be scanned pages, and an account can upload 25 files a day. Large files are uploaded in parts automatically, and text-based PDFs can be imported by the browser in seconds without uploading the file at all.

There is a free plan with 300 verified questions a month on a free account, 60 a month if you start as a guest without an account. Uploads, grading, per-chapter mastery, spaced review, exams and the AI tutor are included on it. For heavier study there is a Pro subscription, a 90 day exam pass and prepaid question packs, all listed on the pricing page.

Who is it for?

Students in medicine and the health sciences who are examined on their own course material: medicine, nursing, pharmacy, dentistry, physiotherapy and biomedical science. The questions come from the documents you upload, so the subject is whatever you are studying.

How fast is question generation?

Measured on the live site on September 23, 2026 on the free pool: 20 questions from an OpenStax anatomy chapter of 44 to 60 pages in about 15 to 18 seconds. Reading is faster still: a 900 page textbook was read and stored in under 40 seconds, measured on September 12, 2026. Those runs, with the file and the date beside each one, are the whole speed claim, and they are printed on how it works. A longer job, or a busy hour on the free lane, takes longer.

Can I get the questions out of the site?

On a paid plan, yes. Any exam or any whole document downloads as a tab separated file for Anki, as a CSV for a spreadsheet, or as a page built for a printer. Every question takes its answer, its source quote and its page number with it. The free plan does not include downloads, and answers 10 tutor questions a day.
