INBDE exam dates, fee, pass rate and passing score
The INBDE passing score is 75 on a scale that runs from 49 to 99, and results are reported as pass or fail. The INBDE pass rate in 2025 was 92.8 percent for first attempt candidates from CODA accredited programs and 79.2 percent across all 12,239 administrations. There is no published list of INBDE exam dates: you book a date with Prometric inside a six month eligibility period, 60 to 90 days ahead, and results follow three to four weeks later. The INBDE fee is USD 890, plus USD 435 for candidates from programs not accredited by CODA.

Three hundred standalone items, and the 200 this cannot write
The INBDE runs over two days and 500 items. Day one is three sections of 100 standalone items at 105 minutes each, plus a fourth section of 60 case based items. Day two is two sections of 70 case based items. So 300 of the 500 are standalone multiple choice with three to five options and one best answer, which is what a generator writes from your oral pathology, materials and pharmacology notes.
The 200 case based items hang off patient cases that cross the 56 clinical content areas and the 10 foundation knowledge areas. Notes are also thinnest exactly where the exam is not: ethics, jurisprudence, research methodology and informatics carry 21 percent of items between them, and almost nobody has study notes on those.

What this cannot do
- This is not an INBDE question bank and it has no connection to the Joint Commission on National Dental Examinations. It writes items in that style from the file you upload.
- The 200 case based items are out of reach. They are built on patient cases spanning the clinical content and foundation knowledge areas, which a generator working page by page does not assemble.
- The test specification mix is not guaranteed: diagnosis and treatment planning is 36 percent, oral health management 42 percent and practice and profession 22 percent of a real exam.
- Radiographs, photographs and image only charts are not read as images. Only the captions and the prose around them are.

Questions students ask
Can it write the integrated cases?
No. A case crosses subjects and reveals a patient a step at a time. What you get here is the standalone half of the exam, which is 300 of the 500 items.
What should I upload?
One module at a time: oral pathology, dental materials, local anesthesia, periodontics. Upload several in one document if you want stems that cross them.
Does it cover ethics and jurisprudence?
Only if you upload that material. Those areas carry real weight on the exam and are usually missing from study notes.
Will it work on a scanned older edition?
