## Why slides make good questions

A lecture deck is already a filtered syllabus. Someone decided what mattered enough to put on a slide, and your exam is written by the same department. Generating from the deck keeps that emphasis instead of replacing it with a general purpose bank.

## Getting a clean import

- Upload the .pptx file itself, or export to PDF, rather than photographing the screen. Either way a text layer gives exact quotes and exact slide or page numbers.
- Keep one deck per document so chapter mastery maps onto lectures.
- Include the handout or transcript if the slides are sparse. More prose means better vignettes.

## What the page number buys you

Every accepted question prints the quote it was built from and the slide it is on. When a question surprises you, you go straight to that slide instead of hunting through the deck. It also means a question can be checked and, if the slide itself is wrong, dismissed.

## Questions about lecture material

### What file types work?

PDF, Word (.docx), PowerPoint (.pptx) and plain text (.txt and .md), plus text you paste in and a public web page by its address. A PowerPoint file is read one slide per slide, so its citations line up with the lecture. The lecture slides page covers decks in detail.

### Will it quote the slide titles?

It quotes whatever carries the fact, usually the body text of a slide. Slides that are only a title and an image give little to work with, so pair them with the handout if you have one.

### How long does a lecture take?

The only generation timing this site prints is the one it measured on September 23, 2026: 20 questions from a 44 to 60 page textbook chapter in about 15 to 18 seconds on the free pool. The table on the how it works page names the files behind it.
